Our people must learn to do good by meeting the urgent needs of others; then they will not be unproductive.~ Titus 3:14, NLT

How can coffee help a family? Did you know that with every bag of Just Love Coffee you purchase, you are helping families worldwide?

If you're ever interested in buying awesome coffee that helps others in the process, check this out:

 https://justlovecoffee.com/about/beneficiary/thekrausfamily/
The family that started Just Love Coffee wanted a way to help as many people as possible, so they travel and teach families in other countries how to harvest, roast and run their own roasting business, then various people apply to get a commission from the coffee sold thru their personal links to raise funds for them to adopt. The link above helps personal friends raising funds to adopt from ethiopia. They will receive $5.00 for every bag sold for their adoption costs. You can learn more about the Krause Family on our Adopting Families page. The coffee is fabulous and the company and all it does is too.

From the Just Love Coffee website:
"Rob Webb grew up in the coffee business. When he was two years old his father started a coffee company in Murfreesboro, Tennessee that Rob runs today. For years he dreamed of roasting his own specialty coffees. In the spring of 2009, Rob and his wife, Emily, added to their family of four by adopting from Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee. While preparing for the adoption, Rob and Emily immersed themselves in Ethiopian culture by reading, talking with Ethiopian-Americans, and learning Amharic- the most widely spoken language in Ethiopia. Being immersed in the culture of Ethiopia and in the adoption process kindled an idea that began to take shape. What if he could create fine, artisan coffees and use some of the profits to help other families raise the funds to adopt? From that idea, Just Love Coffees was born.
Next came the vision of not only creating outstanding coffees, but coffees that are fair and sustainable. Fair- meaning that the coffee farmers are paid a living wage for their work. Sustainable- meaning that the coffee cherries are grown and harvested in a way that protects our precious natural resources.  Just Love coffees purchases only organic, shade grown, coffee beans- Fair Trade Certified, when available. In addition, Just Love is a Fair Trade Certified company.

In early 2011, Rob and Emily began to discuss what more they could do through the company to help the plight of the orphan. What could Just Love do to not only help place orphans in permanent homes, through both domestic and international adoption, but help to prevent children in the developing world from becoming orphaned? Through friends, Rob and Emily had contributed to the non-profit organization Charity: Water, and learned about the immense need for clean water in the developing world to promote wellness. They decided that 5% of all sales of Just Love coffee would go to Charity: Water through the Coffee to Water program.
In our first two years of business, we have given away over $200,000 to adopting families, orphan care, and non-profit organizations. Every bag of Just Love Coffee you purchase, every cup you drink at a cafĂ©, is a blend of coffee and love. Thank you for helping us Share the Love!"

Volunteers Needed: Help Build Hope in Alaska. Food and lodging is provided. Read more

Help Build Hope in Alaska
Alaska is a land of unparalleled beauty with its snow-capped mountains, pristine lakes, and rugged wilderness. It is also a place of long, dark, cold winters, and of isolated, wind-swept villages where depression and alcoholism can be prevalent. The state's suicide rate is twice the national average, with Alaska Natives accounting for a disproportionate percentage.
It is a place that needs the hope of Jesus Christ.
Samaritan's Purse is helping to proclaim the Good News by constructing two new churches. We need skilled construction workers willing to make a difference in the lives of Alaskan residents at the following locations:
Kipnuk, where we are building a parsonage and a church. (click here for more info)
Nome, where we are building a church. (click here for more info)
Food and lodging is provided by Samaritan's Purse. Volunteers must arrange their own transportation.
Please consider being the hands and feet of Jesus by using your unique skills in Alaska. You can be part of the beautiful gift of providing locals with a brand new church that will proclaim the hope of the Gospel. It'll be an experience you'll never forget!

Have you tried Would You Lather? natural bath and body products yet? They are FABULOUS!!!! Learn how to get yours.

Recently I was lucky enough to try out a bunch of various Would You Lather? items. I will be composing a full review of all the items and what all they can be used for soon, but I just had to write a brief post telling you about them right away. They are AMAZING!!!!!! (which is saying a lot coming from me since I usually don't use that sort of stuff due to allergies!) They are all natural, vegetable based and paraben free. They smell wonderful, but also offer every product scent free. They even offer products for infants. You have to check them out.

Here is a brief description of Would You Lather?

"Would You Lather? was born from our desire to produce a more pure and natural alternative to the usual commercial choices of soap. As parents, we strive to provide a healthy environment for our family.  It is known that what we put on our bodies can have as much impact as what we put in them.  We use pure, simple, natural ingredients.

All our unique scents are derived from pure essential oils and high quality fragrance oils. We make our entire product line in small, precisely measured batches to ensure the very best quality and freshness.

Would You Lather? is available at All About You Day Spa in Franklin, Indiana, aba-creations Art Gallery and Thyme to Heal in Shelbyville, Indiana.   We are also at the Shelbyville Farmers' Market this summer most Saturdays. We will have a booth at the Greenwood Freedom Festival on June 29, 2013."

Flag Day is June 14th. What is Flag Day and Why Do We Celebrate Flag Day?

Below is a post written by a friend of mine, Amy Yarsinske, who is a wonderful historical author. She has written wonderful books.
Click HERE to view her website and books she has written.

June 14, is Flag Day. There are many stories as to how it got its beginning. Millions of Americans observe Flag Day by waving Old Glory outside their homes and businesses. Veterans' groups and sometimes whole communities also arrange civic functions and special ceremonies in honor of Flag Day.

As the legend goes, it was George Washington and two other members of the Continental Congress
who asked Betsy Ross to sew the first American flag sometime in the late spring of 1776. The young widow was only in her early 20s when she completed the first flag with thirteen stars arranged in a circle.

A year later, the Continental Congress officially adopted the design for the national flag, and henceforward the Stars and Stripes symbolized the United States around the world.

The first "official" Flag Day was celebrated in 1877 - the flag's centennial. In 1916, a grassroots movement resulted in President Woodrow Wilson issuing a proclamation that called for a nationwide observance of Flag Day on June 14. Although still not an official holiday, Flag Day was made a permanent observance in America in 1949 by Congress who resolved "That the 14th day of June of each year is hereby designated as Flag Day."

      Flag Day fun facts

Why red, white and blue? To the original members of the Continental Congress, red stood for hardiness and courage, white for purity and innocence, and blue for vigilance and justice.

Why thirteen stars and stripes? They represented the thirteen American colonies which rallied around the new flag in their fight against the British for self-governance.

The thirteen colonies included Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia.

To this day, thirteen stripes still commemorate the original colonies. Instead of thirteen stars, today the number of stars on the US flag has grown to 50, representing every state in the Union.
