Using potting soil, a tiny buried flower pot for the tomb, shade grass seed, & crosses made from twigs. Sprinkle grass seed generously on top of dirt, keep moistened using a spray water bottle. Spritz it several times a day. Set it in a warm sunny location. Sprouts in 7-10 days so plan ahead. The tomb is EMPTY! He is Risen! He is Risen indeed!

Bell Pepper Clover Stamps. Just in Time for St. Patrick's Day!

Here is what you will need!

  • A green bell pepper (Look for one with three or four seams in it; this will ensure the 3 or 4 leaf clover design)
  • A knife
  • Green paint (Don’t have any? Just follow the simple directions for homemade paint here.)
  • Paper

Here is what you will do!

  • Using your knife, slice off the top half of the bell pepper. Clean any seeds away leaving the rim clean. The bottom portion will be your stamper. The top half can be your snack.
  • Apply your paint around the rim of the pepper, or pour paint into an old pie pan, perfect for dipping.
  • Press down firmly on your piece of paper, then add a stem. Presto!

Changing the World Pebble by Pebble is participating in raising funds for Because I am a Girl.

Plan International’s Because I am a Girl initiative is a social movement to unleash the power of girls and women to claim a brighter future for girls in the developing world. When a girl is educated, nourished and protected, she shares her knowledge and skills with her family and community, and can forever change the future of a nation. It’s that powerful.
It only takes ONE girl to change the world.

Did you know?
  • 70% of the one billion people living in extreme poverty are women and girls.
  • Girls are 3x more likely to be malnourished than boys.
  • In the poorest countries of the world, 50% of girls do not attend secondary school.
Girls and women in the world's poorest countries are the most vulnerable members of society, denied the same rights and opportunities as their brothers.

The power of girls

"And yet research is also clear that when girls reach their full potential, through improved status, better health care, and education, it is the most effective development tool for society as a whole. As a country's primary enrolment rate for girls increases, so too does its gross domestic product per capita."

- Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General
Did you know?
  • An extra year of school for girls increases their lifetime income by 15%.
  • Children of women who have completed primary school are less likely to die before age 5 than children of mothers with no schooling.
  • Women invest more of their income in their families than men do.
Yes, there is hope! Investing in girls is key to eliminating poverty and creating a brighter, safer future for everyone. When girls are educated, healthy and informed, they pull themselves, their children and their communities out of poverty. The most vulnerable are potentially the most powerful. Empower a girl – she'll change the world for everyone around her, including boys and men.

Aminata's story

"I am 14-year-old orphan and I don't go to school. I have a child to care for," said Aminata, who worked in the sex trade in Guinea as recently as last year. Thanks to the support and protection of a Plan, the teen is getting a second chance in life.
